therapy in canterbury counselling with a calm scene from norway by a client

The Therapy:

Fees & Procedure at Everything Changes. We start our journey together where you are right now and I begin with building a relationship which is confidential, respectful and non-judgemental. I am curious about your world and how it feels for you to be in it. Together we explore how you got here. Drawing on threads from the past, establishing what you like and what you may consider changing.

Using the light of awareness I help you tap around your thoughts, beliefs and behaviours. Holding the space for you over the sessions and reflecting back the patterns and beliefs that have got you to where you are now. Gently we explore where they have come from and how they serve you. Looking at things from different perspectives and trying on new ways of being helps give focus. Thus leading to the change you want to happen and also acceptance of change that may have been sudden and unwelcome.

You & Your Therapy:

You are the expert on your life and I believe you have all the answers. The abilities are within you to live your best life. My aim is to really listen and be present with you in your times of suffering. To sit beside you as you uncover emotions and work through difficult feelings. Also to rejoice with you as you discover easier ways to navigate your life. And uncover the peace and happiness that is also buried in there to.

Each week we begin where you are in that moment and work in a way that gives you what you need at that point. You may need a safe space to offload what is going on for you right now. Space to learn grounding skills and techniques to relax your mind or regulate your emotions. As well as talking therapy I may offer skills, techniques and suggest exercises that may be helpful to introduce into daily life. Even though we are working online I can offer creative visualisations and practice relaxation and breathing techniques if that is something a client would like to try.

What I can offer:

The reasons people seek counselling are as many and varied as they are.

There may be unresolved feelings from the past that are linked to abuse, bullying, guilt or shame. Also relationships may be broken, difficult or damaging. You may have intense feelings of loss around a past relationship, a beloved pet, home or job.

Bereavement can leave us with complicated grief and unresolved feelings. As such uncertain how to live on without our loved one. We often supress unwanted emotions such as anger and fear and this can lead to anxiety and depression. We can become isolated with feelings of loneliness or numbness and become lethargic and procrastinate or bury our feelings with alcohol, drugs or food.

Life is a process of daily changes that make up each of our unique journeys. Sometimes these changes are slow and without realising it we have drifted into an unknown place where we feel stuck. Sometimes they are sudden and we can lose our way and become disorientated. Occasionally they are devastating and we find we have been changed irrevocably.

Procedure Time & Space:

I can offer you a time and space each week where I will be with you as we explore the things you want to resolve or change. Together we will find ways to increase your self-confidence, and self-esteem. Create boundaries that enable you to protect yourself in relationships and at work. Manage your stress and uncomfortable feelings. Understand your emotions and how to regulate them and see yourself for the wonderful and unique human being that you are. I don’t see anyone as flawed or broken. As such I see people who have learned ways of surviving and coping that are no longer helpful. I want to offer you a space where you can discover and become who you really are.

Online Therapy:

Therapy online can be just as effective as in person if certain conditions are met. The session must take place in a private secure room where there will be no interruption from other household members, children or pets. Ideally you would use a private computer so we can see and hear each other clearly. Some clients like to use their phone and in this case it must be held in a way that I can see the whole of your face.

Fees:

I offer a free 30 minute online appointment to talk about why you are considering counselling and discuss how I may support you. This is a great way to see if working online is for you. Feel free to Contact Me to discuss.

One of the benefits of having sessions online is that I am able to pass on savings from room hire and so can charge £50 for each 50 minute session.

Payment is via Bank Transfer on the day of the session and so there are no hidden costs for cancelling sessions on the day – although it is a courtesy to give 24 hour notice.
